Kodiak Island has plenty of natural beauty to offer the outdoor enthusiast. Following is a list of public use lands for day area use and overnight stays. --------------------------------------------------------------- Alaska State Parks, Kodiak District Afognak Island State Park Single cabin for public use on Pillar Lake Buskin River State Recreation Area Only 4.5 miles from Kodiak, 15 camp sites. Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park This former WWII army outpost is now a 183 acre park. Many bunkers remain to show its heritage. With historic displays, a WWII Museum, trails to hike, 13 camp sites and picnicking facilities, there is plenty to do! Pasagshak State Recreation Area Picnic area, camping facilities and restrooms, located on the Pasagshak Road.
